What the business is
Deep-cleaning homes, flats and offices: scrubbing bathrooms, lifting cooking grease off a kitchen, machine-scrubbing floors, shampooing sofas and carpets, cleaning fans and fridges. What is sold here is labour and time, so no money is locked up in stock. The rates are public. On 16 September 2026 Sheba.xyz was charging in Dhaka: kitchen regular cleaning Tk 725, kitchen deep cleaning Tk 2,050, bathroom deep cleaning Tk 1,225-2,250, premium bathroom cleaning Tk 1,925-2,550, ceiling fan Tk 200 each, refrigerator Tk 1,025-1,525, a sofa and chair package Tk 2,350, and a full home deep clean Tk 5,100-9,200. Floor deep cleaning runs Tk 3.5 to Tk 10 per square foot with a minimum order of 800 square feet, and a garage and rooftop bundle is Tk 12,250-16,350. One thing to know before joining such a platform: its home-cleaning category carries a maximum commission of 30 percent with 15 percent VAT on top, so a Tk 2,000 job can leave up to Tk 600 with the platform. Win your own customers and that money is your profit instead.

What you need to start
- A hand scrubber machine (Sheba names it specifically in its premium bathroom service), a vacuum cleaner, a sofa and carpet shampoo machine, a ladder, buckets and mops, and a range of brushes.Equipment
- Surface-specific chemicals: tiles, mosaic, marble and wooden floors each need a different solution, which is why Sheba itself prices those four floor types differently.Starting stock
- Trade licence from the city corporation or municipality: form Tk 10, licence book Tk 50, standard tax Tk 30, stamp Tk 150-300, licence fee Tk 100-60,000 by trade type, plus VAT and signboard fee. Issued in 3-5 working days.Licence
- Knowing which solution goes on which surface, and how much machine pressure tiles or grout will take. The wrong solution permanently ruins marble or wood, and then you pay for it.Skill
- A steady supplier for cleaning chemicals, microfibre cloths, gloves and masks. Without good solutions the stains do not lift, and if they do not lift you do not get paid.Supplier
- No shop is needed, but a secure room for machines and chemicals is, along with a way to move the team about.Workspace
How the work runs
- 1Decide which jobs you will do: bathrooms, kitchens, floors, sofas, rooftops. Do not start with all of them; learn two or three properly.
- 2Take the trade licence from the city corporation or municipality: form Tk 10, book Tk 50, standard tax Tk 30, stamp Tk 150-300 and a fee by trade type, issued in 3-5 working days.
- 3Buy the kit: a hand scrubber machine, a vacuum cleaner, a sofa and carpet shampoo machine, a ladder, and chemicals and brushes.
- 4Give the workers gloves, masks and protective clothing. A chemical burn puts a worker out of action, and then the work stops.
- 5Write a rate list. Price by job - bathroom separately, kitchen separately, floors by the square foot - and set a minimum area for floor work, or the travel alone eats the job.
- 6State the terms before you go: water and power will be needed, valuables must be put away, and the work is checked in front of the customer before you leave.
- 7Sign monthly contracts with offices, chambers and showrooms. A monthly contract, not a one-off household job, is what steadies the income, because then wages can be budgeted in advance.
- 8Work out the commission before joining a platform: Sheba's home cleaning category takes up to 30 percent commission with 15 percent VAT on top. It is useful for getting started, but taking every job through it leaves no profit.
- 9Photograph every job before and after. The photographs are your evidence if there is a complaint, and your best advertisement for the next customer.
- 10Work at keeping your staff. The job is hard and carries little respect; pay late and the trained hands leave, and training new ones costs time all over again.

Where it fits
- Strong fitChattogram · A large city with many apartments and corporate offices, where monthly contracts are available.
- Strong fitDhaka · Flat living, small families and two working adults all overlap most here, which is why paying someone to clean is most common in Dhaka.
- PossibleCox's Bazar · Hotels and resorts put out large deep-cleaning jobs before the season starts.
- PossibleGazipur · Factories, dormitories and office buildings give steady work, though the household market is small.
- PossibleKhulna · A divisional city where government and private offices contract out cleaning.
- PossibleNarayanganj · An industrial belt close to Dhaka, where factory offices and showrooms offer contracts.
- PossibleSylhet · Empty houses and flats of families abroad need regular cleaning, and those families are willing to pay.
- Weak fitRajshahi · A divisional city, but paying for household cleaning is still uncommon; office work is the mainstay.
Risks and cautions
- HighDependency: Dependence on the platform. It brings the first orders, but Sheba's home cleaning category carries up to 30 percent commission plus 15 percent VAT. On a Tk 2,050 kitchen deep clean up to Tk 600 can go to the platform, leaving wages, chemicals and travel to come out of the rest. If the platform raises the commission or simply sends you fewer jobs, there is nothing you can do.
- HighOther: Damaging or losing the customer's things. The wrong solution stains marble or wood permanently, a scrubber lifts grout, and cracked tiles or old pipes that fail during the work get blamed on the cleaners. Sheba states in writing that it is not liable for pre-existing faults; a small operator has no such shield, so photographing everything beforehand is the only defence.
- MediumOther: Worker health and retention. Chemicals burn hands and eyes, high windows and rooftops carry a fall risk, and the work carries little social respect. Trained hands take time to build but leave the moment wages are late - and without workers this business has nothing, because labour is all it sells.
- MediumLate payment: Monthly office and showroom contracts are billed at month end and paid later, while wages must be paid weekly or monthly regardless. If two or three large clients delay at once there is no wage money, and unpaid workers do not turn up the next day.
